So, what is the Windrush myth?
“…the Windrush myth: the modern day lie that immigrants from the Caribbean were invited to Britain from 1948 onwards to “rebuild our country after the war”. This is, of course, complete fiction, and the newspaper articles and government meeting minutes at the time paint a very different picture with Labour’s Prime Minister, Clement Atlee, and Minister of Labour and National Service, George Isaacs, describing the immigrants as an “unwanted people” and a “problem” to deal with. The Labour government suggested the idea of repatriation and made it clear that they hoped no more immigrants would follow.” (Source)
“One of the things that struck me most when I began looking into the origins of multicultural Britain was the hazy and confused background to the arrival of that notorious ship.”
“We begin tumbling down the proverbial rabbit hole. I quickly discovered that the New Zealand Shipping Company, like other crucial players in the story of the Windrush, was Jewish owned and operated.”
“It doesn’t really concern me whether the beginnings of this movement was part of a concerted campaign to flood Britain with non-Whites, whether the motivation was purely profit-driven, or whether it was a mixture of both. The fact remains that Jews occupied conspicuous roles throughout the process.”

David Lammy admits the Jewish involvement in supporting immigration into the UK and also mentions the Gleaner Company with regards to the arrival of the Empire Windrush in 1948 where Jamaican immigrants started to arrive into the UK.
Daniel Lawrence quotes, as an example, one migrant who explained his move to Britain: “Well, I left Jamaica because I saw the advertisements in The Gleaner. … I left to better my position. That was the chief reason.”[10] The Gleaner, is part of the Gleaner Company which to this day enjoys an effective monopoly of the Jamaican press. The company has its origins in 1834, when it was founded by the Jewish brothers Jacob and Joshua De Cordova. Since its founding it has been a kind of Jamaican micro-Cousinhood. Even when it registered as a private company in 1897, its first directors possessed a mixture of Ashkenazi and Sephardi names, from Ashenheim to de Mercado. At the time the Empire Windrush ads appeared, the managing director was Michael de Cordova. Even as late as the 1960s, and despite numbering no more than six hundred in the whole country, according to Anita Waters the powerful Jewish minority of Jamaica controlled “many of the larger economic enterprises.”[11] Before the socialist policies of the Manley administration were implemented (1972–1980), Jews “controlled the country’s only cement factory, the radio sector, the telephone company, and the largest rum company.” (Source)

The video below is of an Indian caller where he defends Whites over the Windrush scandal and racism claims. This featured on LBC, June 23 2020.
It is also debunked in the newspaper articles from the time, posted below.
Newspaper cuttings from the Daily Express, 9th June 1948, which prove that the government didn’t invite the Windrush generation to fill a labour shortage after the war (they didn’t even know they were coming until they received a telegram from the Acting Governor of Jamaica informing them). Remember when you’re told that the Windrush generation were invited to Britain to rebuild our country following the War, the below is what was actually being reported by the government and press at the time…
There is never an attempt to do any cost-benefit analysis, this whole area is highly politicised. And the ‘benefits’ side of the equation is full of disinformation. A few hundred Jamaicans are dwarfed by the vast number of Irish who travelled to Britain for work, the Polish Resettlement Act, the European Voluntary Workers scheme which brought over 60,000 to Britain in just that one year, the £10 Poms heading in the other direction to Australia AND the fact that the Prime Minister Attlee was appalled at the potential consequences of Windrush disembarking and tried to have the ship diverted to Kenya for peanut picking jobs. The Secretary of State for Labour, George Issacs, opposed any further trips and a couple of years later Churchill in 1951 wanted to run his campaign on the slogan ‘Keep England White’. Whatever individual views on these issues/people, these are the facts. This ‘Black Saviour’ myth of rescuing and rebuilding Britain has no basis in fact.
“This isn’t even true. It’s an outright lie. Britain was pretty much an homogenous nation before Empire Windrush docked in 1948. Was there no Britain before 1948? Even then, immigration levels were pretty steady until Blair became PM in 1997. We were still 94.1% White in 1991. Britain was built by British people. This is an outright lie.”

Dismantling the Lies of Empire Windrush by Laura Towler and Sam Melia
Following the launch of a new 50p in England to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Empire Windrush, Laura dismantles the lies surrounding immigrants being invited to Britain to help us rebuild after war.
Regarding the below image from Daughter of Albion, she states,
“I absolutely love how the status of Gen Windrush has promptly evolved from “foreign worker” to “pioneer” in the space of a year. Like they’re Kit Carson civilising the Apache.”
